The Sasse-Herring link was forged in New York in the spring of 2001, when Martin played a session with Vincent at his regular Monday night gig at the Up Over Jazz Café in Brooklyn. And then later in October / November 2002, Vincent Herring and the Martin Sasse Trio went on the road for a short tour in Germany.

"There was a time when there was a big gap between the level of American musicianship and that of the rest of the world. But all that has changed. Today you find excellent players everywhere. I really enjoyed this session – the trio has a great feeling for the music and a flair for interpreting it expressively. And they admire the same area of the jazz spectrum as I do. This is not the normal routine form of jazz – there are some really innovative elements. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!"
